Felsted Decorative and Fine Arts Society (FDFAS) is a branch of The National Association of Fine Arts Societies (NADFAS) with a current membership of around 90. We were founded in 1978.

We hold a minimum of seven arts related lectures per year, each on the last Wednesday of the month, starting at 2:30pm with additional lectures likely to be added outside of the originally planned programme. The AGM is held in February at 2:30pm, with the lecture following immediately afterwards.

Our lecturers are accredited by NADFAS, and we choose them each year to provide a mixed programme aiming to entertain, amuse and educate. Some make regular media appearances such as our April 2016 lecturer, Annie Gray, who is a regular panellist on the radio 4 programme, ‘Kitchen Cabinet’, and Neil Faulkner, who has lectured at Felsted before and who appears in the current year’s programme is an archaeologist who contributed to ‘Roman Britain, a Timewatch Guide’ on BBC4 in March.

For more details of our lecture programme, past and future, go to the 'Lectures' page,

We charge an annual fee of £45.00. New members are always welcome and may join after 1st July for a reduced subscription. Visitors are welcome for a charge of £8.00. For further details go to the 'About Us/Joining Us' page.

We meet at Saling Millennium Hall, Piccotts Lane, Great Saling, CM7 5DW near Braintree in Essex with plenty of free parking available. This is a modern building with modern facilities, and is equipped with a loop system. We provide our own projection and audio equipment. We organise a regular programme of visits, many of which are associated with our lectures. For further information go the 'Visits' page. Members can access other events such as trips, lecturers or study days through the Essex Area of NADFAS. For details go to
